PET FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
With today's tough economy and the large number of families losing their homes to foreclosure,
animals are being surrendered at a much higher rate than just a year ago. Some animals are
not even being surrendered to shelters, they are being left in the home, with no food or water,
waiting for someone to show up and realize that they were left behind. How
sad.
Findings indicate that owners are most often surrendering their pets due to the cost of basic
maintenance - veterinary care and food - thus causing additional stress in an already sad
situation. That is where we want to help!
The Pet Food Assistance Program is designed so families can comfortably contact us for assistance
with their pet food needs. We will continue to help the community as long as food is DONATED to
us. It’s simple - no forms or paperwork - just honesty. Tail Wagger's wants pets to
stay with the families they have grown to love AND eliminate the number of animals heading to the
shelter.
Here's How You Can Help:
* If you own a business you can become one of our food collection points - we'll provide you with a
sign and barrel. Pick-up times will be arranged directly with the business.
* Consider making the Pet Food Assistance Program a project with your local scouts, church group,
youth group, etc. We'll help you get started and provide you with everything you need for a
successful project! Kids that want to get involved with this program will become part of our Pet
Cadet program!
* Become a Tail Wagger's Volunteer and be part of our pick-up team - we'll make it convenient for
you!

Tail Wagger's is excited to partner with Pet Food & More to benefit the
Pet Food Assistance program.
General Manager, Steve Shamou offered both the Livonia and Commerce Twp. locations as a way to help gain
exposure to this community-based program.
Food barrels and signage will catch the eye of their customers so
that they can donate the much-needed food and supplies so that animals and their
owners can be assured that we are there for them.

Norton's Joins The Cause In Washtenaw County
Tail Wagger's is excited to announce their newly developed partnership with
Norton's Flowers of Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor and their involvement in the Pet Food
Assistance program!
Owner, Tim Galea and his wife are big animal lovers and when introduced to Tail
Wagger's they felt the need to get involved. Wanting to enhance our Pet Food
Assistance program, Tim offered both stores as a drop-off location for the Program.
Taking it one step further, it was agreed that ALL FOOD and SUPPLIES that are
dropped off at Norton's Flowers would be kept in WASHTENAW COUNTY - so that
the people of THIS community could beneft from the generousity of their own
neighbors.
We all know that cruelty and neglect are sad examples of society's ignorance or
unwillingness to understand the needs of the animals with whom we share our homes
and communities. Now, with so many people feeling the stress of a difficult local
economy, even well-meaning families are wonderig how they'll continue to feed and
care for their animal companions. In an effort to help people help animals,
Norton's Flowers
& Gifts will collect donations of food, toys, litter, stainless steel bowls,
pet supply gift cards and other supplies that might be useful to those people and
animals in need.
